Closed since 1983, the Benromach distillery was bought in 1993 by the renowned Gordon & MacPhail distillery in Elgin. Renovated from top to bottom, it began reproducing in August 1998 before being officially opened by Prince Charles on 15 October 1998. Full of verve, this version aged in first-fill sherry casks undeniably echoes, aromatically, the camomile scents of a saline manzanilla, with the addition of peat, of course. On the palate, it has become more suave, and is similar to another great white wine: Meursault.
