You have a small piece of history in your hands, the first of its kind, a rare object in whisky maturation.
Brenne uses 100% organic barley, water and yeast, and distils using their traditional Charentais still. Their single malt whisky is then aged in new Limousin oak casks and Cognac barrels. After an initial blend of these casks, the whisky is finally matured in Pineau des Charentes casks.
The tradition of Pineau des Charentes dates back to the late 1500s, when a winemaker mistakenly added grape must to a cask containing Cognac brandy and left it to mature.
This limited edition of Brenne commemorates the 10th anniversary of Brenne. It is the first of its kind. Its bouquet offers a lovely fragrance of sweet caramel and rosewater. The freshness is maintained by fine, gourmand notes of candyfloss. On the palate, Tahitian vanilla sets the tone. There are also delicate notes of fruit and toasted cereals, which linger on an elegant finish.
