Bunnahabhain is quite different from other Islay malts, as the malted barley is created using pure unpeeled spring water that flows underground away from the peaty moor. Bunnahabhain 40 Year Old is a copper beauty with fragrant notes of sweet oak, hazelnut, peat, citrus and chocolate with hints of light smoke. In the tongue, aged 40 years has a rich and complex balance of heather honey, chocolate ginger and sweet fruit, finished with notes of slightly spicy hazelnut and a hint of sea salt. 41.7% vol. Unfiltered.
