Also known as cider brandy or lambig, Fine de Bretagne is the fruit of Breton tradition. Fine de Bretagne is to Calvados what Armagnac is to Cognac. Warenghem, a century-old Breton distillery, is launching two cuvées, Étoile and Glycine, in homage to the schooners from Brittany that used to go cod fishing in Iceland and load their holds with barrels of cider brandy or Fine Bretagne. Étoile, bottled at a higher proof of 45% and aged in Limousin oak casks for between 2 and 4 years, develops powerful, warm aromas with notes of baked apple complemented by a delicate woodiness.
