When the production and sale of alcohol were banned during Prohibition in 1920, several residents of a small village in Iowa with 350 inhabitants decided to become outlaws and produce a high-quality whiskey called Templeton Rye. Distilled from 95% rye and 5% malted barley, it is aged to perfection in new burnt American oak casks for a minimum of 6 years and bottled at 45.74%.
