Founded in 1874, the Bertrand distillery is located in Uberach, north of Strasbourg. Known for the quality of its traditional eaux-de-vie, it entrusted Jean Metzger, who joined the team two years earlier, with the task of producing a single malt named Uberach (meaning “beyond the water” in Alsatian) in 2003. Drawn from the oldest cask stored in the distillery’s cellars, this version, made from unpeated barley fermented for over a week, is already considered a collector’s item. Proud, youthful in spirit, generous and expressive, its aromatic and taste profile delivers a vibrant duel between malted barley and Banyuls fortified wine.
